9th Annual Texas Correctional Education Conference (TCEC)

It’s time to gear up for the bigger and better 9th Annual Texas Correctional Education Conference (TCEC) at the Walker Education Center in Huntsville on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. The TCEC is the “only” correctional education conference in Texas where all the stakeholders involved in correctional education come together in Texas. Including the Department of Corrections, current and aspiring colleges involved in the correctional education process, state legislators, nonprofits, technical service providers, former justice-impacted students, and the community. This year’s confirmed guests include Texas House Representative of the Corrections Committee, Carl O. Sherman; Texas Department of Criminal Justice Executive Director Bryan Collier; Product Management of Education for Securus Technologies, Brian Walsh; The Formerly Incarcerated Alumni Panel; Chris Wilhun of Texas Appleseed; Kristina Hartman of Windham School District, and more. Also, representatives of The Education Trust and VERA Institute of Justice will be on hand as well.
This year we are “Moving Forward,” with Pell, Pathways, and the Process of Desistance. Don’t know what any of it means, but it’s okay, make sure you attend this year’s conference and you will.
Space is limited and tickets are going fast.
Following the daytime conference we will have an evening Alumni and Justice-Impacted Networking Banquet from 6:30–8:30 PM. On Saturday the 30th, we will have an Alumni and Justice-Impacted Workshop Event at Sam Houston State Park from 8:00 AM to noon. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
- Vendors: If you know any organizations that do reentry work, correctional education, or positive influences in the community and would like to be a vendor, please let us know. Space is limited and we will not be able to select everyone, although we welcome everyone to attend.
