We’re excited to announce the return of Prison & the Academy after a two-year COVID hiatus, and it’s our 10th “anniversary” of the event! Though we’re a little bummed it won’t be in person, we’re kinda thrilled that more of you will get to participate. Here’s what you need to know:
- Date & Time: Tuesday, May 3, 2022 @ 12:00–1:00 pm ET
- Location: Zoom (We’ll send the link the day before the event.)
- Topic: Lessons from Trauma-Informed Classrooms
About the Speakers: Em Daniels, MST, author of Building a Trauma-Responsive Educational Practice: Lessons from a Corrections Classroom, will discuss her experiences countering the impacts of trauma on learning and expanding how we think about healing, particularly in the carceral classroom. Rob DeMarco, LMSW and graduate student of social work at Rutgers University, will be the respondent.
Here’s what YOU can do to participate:
- Let us know you can attend.
- Let e’em know what you’d like her to focus on in her discussion. (This is optional but very much appreciated.)
- Circulate the awesome flyer Chris Etienne, our STEM program coordinator, created for the event! (Also optional…but also appreciated.)
We look forward to seeing you soon. If you have any questions, let me know!
