Welcome to the second Our Time workshop! We are so glad you are here. This workshop, on August 27, 2022, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm CT, will be focused on restorative community building for formerly incarcerated folk. We will discuss the importance of community and how community building fosters social connection, promotes feelings of belonging and fulfillment, and positively affects mental health. We invite you to share your own input, stories, and experiences throughout the presentation.
ABOUT OUR TIME
This documentary and workshop series will focus on the reentry experiences of formerly incarcerated people in the St. Louis region as told through short documentary films. During the workshops, we will host viewings of these short films accompanied by a panel discussion and exercises to connect people with resources and support and build bonds with community members who are not formerly incarcerated, with the goal of learning what efforts individuals and the community need to take in order to reduce the risks of rearrest.
This project is supported by The Divided City Initiative. The Divided City is an urban humanities initiative, a joint project of the Center for the Humanities and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture & Urban Design at Washington University in St. Louis. The Divided City is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
